In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial DayPeace Officers Memorial Day is a part of Police Week, paying tribute to local, State and Federal law enforcement officersEstablished by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week is dedicated to honoring law enforcement officers and pays special recognition to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
